An Advanced Team of Accessibility Consultants
Accessibility.Works
We are an independent digital accessibility consultancy focused on complex, high-stakes work for organizations that want accessibility done right the first time. This team serves as a sister to our custom ecommerce web design and development team, Propeller Media Works.
All work is led and executed by senior practitioners. No junior testers. No offshore teams. The practitioners who scope the work are the same ones who execute it.
The Industry Landscape
The
industry started with a few companies in the early 2000s, mostly fueled by government contracts to meet Section 508 compliance. To handle volume, they built automated testing platforms that augmented new recruits.
In the mid-2010s, a significant shift began. A cottage industry of plaintiff attorneys took root, website owners started getting hit with ADA lawsuits, and demand for accessibility consultants shot through the roof. Legacy companies invested more into their platforms and gobbled up talent. Demand outpaced capacity.
They’ve tried to make up the difference with technology. Even today, with AI, auditing platforms are surprisingly limited. The best catch around 60% of WCAG issues. Most land in the 30%-40% range. With investor pressure now driving growth, these firms get creative with marketing because they lack the workforce to support their client base. Until AI catches up, they over-promise and under-deliver.
We stand in stark contrast. A team of only experts. Yes, we use auditing platforms, but we pick from the best as the technology evolves. Our hybrid approach mixes modern AI-powered tools with the experience of accessibility professionals, each with over 13 years in the industry.
Our Secret Sauce
Our real secret isn’t the ability to identify barriers in websites, SaaS platforms, or mobile apps. That’s table stakes.
The secret is our experience understanding the full spectrum of accessibility use cases and assistive technologies, combined with years working alongside front-end developers. We speak geek fluently. We combine expertise in accessibility and front-side code.
This translates to clearer direction, faster remediation, and deeper assurance that the user experience will be genuinely accessible, not just technically compliant. Guidance is written in terms engineering teams recognize. Integration into existing workflows is fast. Clients work directly with the practitioners performing the audits.
Reports are the primary deliverable. Significant time is invested in validating findings, removing false positives, and writing remediation guidance that engineering teams can act on without translation.
Why Accessibility Matters
Accessibility is the pinnacle of usability. Interfaces that work for screen readers, keyboards, and alternative inputs are structured, predictable, and clear. Those same qualities improve task completion, reduce errors, and create better experiences for everyone.
It also opens doors. Accessible products reach more users, qualify for more contracts, and perform better in procurement. Organizations that treat accessibility as a quality investment rather than a compliance checkbox gain competitive advantage.
And not just for human visitors. WCAG-compliant websites earn better SEO and are easier for AI agents to index and cite. If a person with blindness can navigate and buy on your site, so can an AI agent.
The risk of getting it wrong is real. But the upside of getting it right is larger.
